Come Rain or Shine

When it comes to leadership content, there’s nothing new under the sun. If a topic can be derived, chances are it has been discussed. However, as I’ve learned in recent years, there are many unique materials on familiar concepts.

One of these resources I’ve found helpful is called “Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. In this book, two U.S. Navy Seal officers who led victorious assignments during the Iraq War connect leadership principles from the battlefield to business. From their perspective, leadership at every level is the most important part of the battlefield, a principle no stranger to the corporate world.

As I unpack in this episode, extreme ownership means empowering leaders to ask ‘why’ and form ideas they can communicate with confidence and transparency. Accordingly, if we want to strengthen a culture of ownership, not only must we engage those we work with, but integrate them into critical decision-making moments.
